Welcome to Angola Middle School
Angola Middle School is located in the northeast corner of Steuben
County in Angola, Indiana. We are one of six schools in the Metropolitan
School District of Steuben County. Four elementary schools feed
into Angola Middle School that serves grades 6,7, and 8. Angola
Middle School enrollment has grown steadily since 1994. In 2000,
our enrollment was 684 students and this year we have enrolled
723 students. Angola Middle School‘s total student enrollment
has shown an increase of 88 students from 1994 to the present.
Currently 93% of our students are Caucasian, 3% are Hispanic and
approximately 3% are of varying ethnicities.
The Metropolitan School District incorporates a large farming
area, the small communities of various lakes, and the city of
Angola. M.S.D.’s school district has a population of approximately
11,500. Most parents are employed at various industries and businesses
located within the city of Angola and receive wages of median
income. Present employment figures are at 16,040. Per capita income
is $25,505 with a current unemployment rate of 4.9%. The average
income is $33,214 (2000). The county free and reduced population
is 11.7%. The home ownership in the county was at 78% in 2000.
Records from 1997 indicate that 7% of our adult population is
below the poverty level with 11% of our children also falling
below.
