Curriculum Design
It is the Mission of the Metropolitan School District of Steuben
County, a partnership of the Board, staff, parents, and community,
to ensure that all students acquire and apply knowledge, skills,
processes, and values in order to become successful lifelong learners
and contributors to society.
The District stakeholders believe that all students can learn; however, students
learn differently. Each student is unique in potential and capabilities
and has value. It is the responsibility of the schools to help
each student develop his/her own capabilities and potential.
The attitude of the student always affects his/her performance.
The District realizes that the family is the student’s first
teacher and, as such, is the primary influence in his/her development.
The school staff will support and extend the student’s development
by providing a safe, nurturing and caring environment, which will enhance
confidence and contribute to the student’s success.
Our elementary, middle, and high schools provide comprehensive
high quality curriculum that supports individual excellence, creativity,
and continuous growth and high achievement for all students.
The design of
the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County Curriculum
content is aligned with the Indiana State Academic Standards and
Core Content Standards for English, Mathematics, Science, and
Social Studies. Curriculum is locally designed by “highly
qualified” teachers and includes standards aligned assessment
practices, research-based programs, resources, and differentiated
instruction. Complete curriculum manuals are available in each
school and the MSD of Steuben County central office.
