While our students enjoyed a sunny day of play, our dedicated teachers and staff were hard at work enhancing their skills. They spent the morning engaged in training sessions and the afternoon participating in breakout sessions on various subjects, all led by their fellow colleagues.

Early this month it was brought to our attention that during morning drop off families were having issues making a left turn out of the Ryan Park parking lot. To help ensure the safety of all of our families we have installed a mirror across the street to help monitor oncoming traffic when making the turn. The attached picture shows the location of the mirror.

This week, students at Angola Elementary schools were presented with an exciting opportunity by Mackenzie Otter with the city of Angola Mayor's office. The City is hosting a design contest for this year's Christmas card. Each student has the option to submit one hand-drawn picture. The City Art Council will review all submissions and select one winner from each school. The lucky winners will have their artwork featured on 25 Christmas cards, along with a festive stocking filled with goodies. It's a wonderful chance to showcase creativity and spread holiday cheer! It is a great way to celebrate Day 2 of Arts in Education Week.

Miss Kobelak’s 5th grade class just completed their first group project for science: The Chocolate Challenge! They had to build two devices; one that would accelerate the melting of a chocolate bar, and one that slowed down the melting. Students demonstrated great cooperation skills during their group work and learned a lot about the science behind heating and cooling. Each group had success with their devices during the experiment!

Dear Parents/Guardians, We are writing to inform you about a situation that occurred today. Our school administration was made aware of a possible threat to the safety of our school community. Please rest assured that after a thorough investigation conducted in cooperation with local law enforcement, the threat was determined to be not credible. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We are taking all necessary precautions and working closely with authorities to ensure the continued safety of everyone on our campus. School will continue as scheduled, and all activities will proceed as planned. Thank you to our law enforcement partners, our school community, teachers, and students in staying vigilant in keeping our schools safe. Matthew L. Widenhoefer, Ph.D. Superintendent

Workers from the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo come to Ryan Park every week to teach students about science and animals. 5th grade students will be using millipedes to explore the scientific method. Today, the students finished putting together their terrariums and were given millipedes from the zoo. For the next few weeks, students will work in groups to observe and care for their millipedes. We are so excited!

Today, students at Ryan Park, took part in the exciting "Rhino Way" parade! This event is a celebration of the positive actions students demonstrate every day. At the end of each month, those who have earned the Rhino Way Award are honored with a parade through the school, cheered on by their peers and greeted with high fives all around. Congratulations to all our Rhinos—keep up the fantastic work!

Tomorrow is Wednesday, and it's our first one hour delay for professional learning of the school year! All buildings start one hour later, buses run one hour later, but drop off at the regular time is available if needed. This will happen every Wednesday during the school year.
